ArkShelf is private cloud storage with a web app, desktop sync clients, and mobile access. It is designed for secure file browsing, previews, uploads, and folder sync — inspired by familiar cloud drives, built for privacy-first workflows.

ArkShelf protects your files using encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication, and private cloud storage tied to your account. Access is controlled through Spaces, folder permissions, member roles, and the sharing permissions you choose. We continuously improve our security architecture to protect your data.
Web access works in modern browsers. Desktop apps are available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows. Linux desktop support is planned.
The Download page always shows the current release from a single release manifest. Short URLs like /downloads/macos and /downloads/windows always point to the newest installer.

This Privacy Policy describes how ArkShelf (“we”, “us”, “our”) processes information when you use the ArkShelf marketing website, web application, desktop sync clients, and mobile applications. ArkShelf is private cloud storage software operated by ArkShelf.
Account information: email address, display name, authentication identifiers, and account preferences. Content you upload: files, folders, photos, videos, and metadata needed to store, organize, preview, and share your content. Usage and service data: storage consumed, upload/download activity, Space membership, sharing settings, and security logs needed to operate the service. Device permissions (mobile): when you use camera capture, microphone recording, or photo library features, the operating system may prompt for Camera, Microphone, or Photo Library access. ArkShelf only uses these permissions for the feature you invoke.
Manual uploads from Photos or Videos use the system picker. Limited Photo Library access is supported for manual uploads — you choose which items to upload. Automatic Camera Backup requires Full Photo Library access on iOS so ArkShelf can detect new photos and videos to back up. If you grant Limited access only, manual uploads continue to work; automatic Camera Backup does not run and the app does not enumerate your entire library under Limited access. Camera Backup uploads go to the Camera Backup destination you configure (by default Camera Backup/Photos and Camera Backup/Videos within your Space), not to whichever folder you are browsing.
We use information to authenticate you, store and sync your files, generate previews, enforce access controls and quotas, provide support, maintain security, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information.
When you share folders or Spaces, we process sharing metadata (recipients, permissions, invitation status) and make content available according to your settings. You control what you share and with whom.
We may process limited diagnostic information (such as error reports and performance signals) to keep the service reliable. We do not use third-party advertising trackers in the ArkShelf apps described in this policy.
If you purchase a paid plan, payment processing is handled by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive subscription status and billing identifiers needed to provision your plan; we do not store full payment card numbers on ArkShelf servers.
Files are transferred over TLS and stored in private object storage accessible only through the application. We retain account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and maintain security. You may delete files and empty Trash using in-product controls.
You can delete your ArkShelf account from the mobile app (Account → Legal & Support → Delete Account) or by following the instructions at https://arkshelf.com/account/delete. Deleting your account removes your personal Spaces and membership data according to our deletion process. Content in shared Spaces owned by others is not deleted when you leave or delete your account. Some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security/audit purposes.

By creating an account or using ArkShelf, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
ArkShelf provides private cloud storage across web, desktop, and mobile, including Spaces, folder sharing, uploads, previews, and optional Camera Backup on supported platforms. Features and availability may change over time. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of critical data.
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
You retain ownership of files you upload. You grant ArkShelf the rights necessary to store, process, transmit, display, and back up your content solely to provide the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
You may not use ArkShelf to violate law, infringe others’ rights, distribute malware, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the service, or abuse shared infrastructure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that threaten service integrity or other users.
When you share folders or invite collaborators, you are responsible for the permissions you grant and the content you make available. Do not share unlawful or harmful content.
We strive for reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Storage quotas and plan limits apply according to your subscription. We may enforce read-only mode when quotas are exceeded until space is freed or your plan is upgraded.
Paid plans, if offered, are billed according to the plan selected at purchase. Subscriptions renew unless cancelled through the billing portal or applicable app store process. Refund terms follow the payment provider and applicable law.
You may stop using ArkShelf and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends, subject to the Privacy Policy retention/deletion rules.
ArkShelf is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ArkShelf and its operators disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Our liability is limited as permitted by law.
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where ArkShelf operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Specific governing law and venue should be confirmed with legal counsel before public launch.
